Often the basic machine structures are in good mechanical condition with the major cause of machine breakdown relating to unreliable and obsolete Controls and electrics. A CNC Retrofit, in its basic form, comprises the replacement of the existing NC/CNC system with a new, state-of-the-art, more flexible and powerful CNC.

The extent of the retrofit can be further enhanced to include the replacement of the obsolete Servo Drives, Measurement Feedback Systems, Electrical Cabinet (including all new control gear) and a complete machine rewire. All CNC Retrofit packages are fully engineered, assembled and tested at our Halifax works prior to despatch to the Client site, thereby minimising machine downtime for installation and re-commissioning.

  • How do I know if my machine is suitable for Retrofit?

    Almost all older NC/CNC machines can benefit from a CNC Retrofit, particularly where they already have independent axis drives. Furthermore, many older, manually operated, machines can also be converted to CNC.

  • Which CNC Systems are suitable for my machine?

    EES has over 30 years’ experience in retrofitting Siemens, Fanuc, Heidenhain, Bosch, Rexroth & Fagor controls. With the knowledge we have accrued over that time EES is ideally placed to recommend a particular control solution that can be tailored to your specific requirements.

  • How much will a CNC Retrofit cost?

    The cost of a CNC retrofit can vary significantly from a basic CNC replacement to a full blown CNC & Electrical upgrade; the size and complexity of a machine (i.e. number of axes, auto tool loading, pallet loading, etc.) also reflects in the retrofit price. EES will be pleased to visit your works, view the machine in question, discuss your requirements & expectations, and provide you with a detailed quotation, completely free of charge.

  • How long does a CNC Retrofit take?

    Again the scope of supply (i.e. CNC replacement or full blown electrical retrofit) and the complexity of the machine, determines the length of time required to retrofit the machine. To minimise machine downtime, EES carries out pre-installation testing of all CNC Retrofit packages, prior to delivery to the client’s works.
