The project comprised a full Siemens Retrofit of a large Schiess 40DS CNC Vertical Borer.

Mechanically, the machine was in quite good condition, other than the machine hydraulics; as such, the only remedial mechanical work was to replace entirely the machine hydraulic & hydrostatic systems.

Electrically, the machine has been retrofitted with a new Siemens Sinumerik ONE Control, new Siemens DC Spindle Drives to both the Table and Live Milling Spindle, new Digital Axis Servo Motors & Drives (X, Z and C) and a new Electrical Cabinet, complete with all new control gear; in addition, the machine was completely re-wired.
